Proposal #2: GIN

GIN stands for Global Issue Network. In GIN, students get to discuss about the global issues. However, students not only end up knowing about them, but come up with possible solutions to improve on those issues and get to take real action to fix them. This is similar to MUN in terms of being knowledgeable about the world problems, but it is different since GIN does not have stands based on the countries. As the human beings on this earth, GIN members get to communicate with each other and solve the global issues. For example, when MUN debates on until what extent should the country allow timber harvesting, while GIN tries to solve the problem, which is deforestation. I am joining this activity because I have noticed that I was ignorant about the global problems for more than 17 years. I believe that people should know how to clean up their own masses, and to do this in a practical way, I am joining GIN. Through GIN, I will be able to be more knowledgeable with the global problems, what causes them, and how to solve them. There will be a GIN conference in Manila on February 2012. When I go there, I hope I can have a wider perspective of the global issues, and creative ways of solving the problems. The supervisor is Mrs. Catherine Wright.
