GIN update

OMG. I did not expect GIN Manila to be such a great conference. It is different from MUN that it is less formal, and more connecting to each other. It was held in International School Mania for three days. There was no moment in those three days that I did not get to enjoy. On the first day, we had to listen to some keynote speakers. The first keynote speaker was the best speaker, and presenter(if there is such word..) I have ever seen in my life. Then we went to student-lead workshops. I visited a school that came from Malaysia. They were working on the poverty and education problem solving in Malaysia through different means. It was good to hear them, since I was able to know different ways of solving those problems. Then it was Brent Baguio's turn to present. The thing is that there were only one student came to see our presentation. So we were very dissapointed since we prepared so much and cared about it. The good thing is that we were able to have another chance to have the presentation on the third day and that it was successful. On the second day, we went to different NGO sites. I went to an orphanage with Mrs. Wright. The place was good, and it seems like it has been under a good care. Well, was not comfortable listening to the "thank you" song, because it was obvious that they have been singing the same song everytime a group of people or charity comes. However the fact that I had time to talk and share time with less fortunate children made the activity meaningful. The reason why I think this GIN was so successful lies in sharing the ideas. We shared our ideas on how to solve global issues. Individuals cannot do much things to solve the global issues, but when we work together, it is possible. One of the student speakers said that "GIN conference is not the end. It is the start." This was very meaningful to me, that now we know how to deal with different issues, we can now solve them more efficiently. I am so pleased about this conference, and now I am looking toward the next conference this November.
