White Coates on Every Kid Reflection
It has been a long time since the club "White Coates on Every Kid" was made. There were many events, that I can never forget; some were good, some were not. These events, no matter good or bad, have taught me many things. One thing that I think I leaned from this activity is how to deal with children. The thing about children is that they are very active, and can sometimes be naughty. Dealing with them at first was really hard. Some of them were very different from me when I was in their age. I easily got annoyed and would even act harsh to the kids. However now, I leaned that such act was wrong, and learned to enjoy interacting with them. I actually learned this from Daniel. He would have so much fun time with children and interact well. So I saw the difference between Daniel and me. It was the smile and laughter that I did not have. It was such a small thing, and yet very important. Not all students were fluent in English, so I had to find easy ways to communicate with them. Now that I am thinking about it, I feel like I learned to have better communication skills, especially the ones that have to do with facial expression, and hand gestures. Because of WCOEK, I got two opportunities to attend GIN conference, which happened in Manila and Singapore. In this activity, I shared WCOEK with other international students, and also heard many other things that othere schools are doing to solve global issues. It is not directly from WCOEK that I learned what is really happening in the world, and what others are doing to solve them. This made me to be a global citizen.
